The following examples demonstrate how we implemented governance with sense of proportion. Companies have been chosen from quite diverse industries, locations, and orders of magnitude. But they have one thing in common: They demand a great deal of themselves and actively manage their interfaces, internal as well as external.

The service provider for the procurement and distribution of biomass fuels acts on the world market. Biomass and processed biomass (e.g. pellets) is delivered to wholesale traders and bulk buyers. Integrated supply chains are being prepared to guarantee the reliable flow of biomass fuels, still one of the critical elements in alternative energy supply. Large-scale combustors, e.g. in coal power plants, are willing to replace part of their fossil fuel by CO2 neutral alternatives only if the highest degree of reliability with respect to quantity and quality can be achieved.

EBES AG prepares business plans for such integrated supply chains, e.g. for the whole journey from bales of straw through pelletization to the industrial boiler. We help to prepare such business plans with particular emphasis on the investor’s needs.

ACB Entwicklungsgesellschaft - a subsidiary of ANDRITZ AG and Polytechnik GmbH focused on devloping torrefaction technology - is one of the spin-offs from EBES, for which we provide management services.

Public Museum / Internal Audit
A well-known public museum and scientific institution in Vienna has enhanced its internal control system and set up internal audit processes. Due to the size of the organization, experts from different areas are called in for auditing specific areas. Prozess Delta acts as the coordinator of all internal audit processes and as the subject matter expert for IT and related technologies.

The computing center in Bratislava is part of a worldwide organization (financial services) and delivers specialized transaction services to banks and points-of-sale through intermediaries. Customers from Slovakia and a number of other countries from the Central and Eastern Europe region make use of the services.

The management regularly takes measures to maintain the high level of performance and quality. We could support two related initiatives by providing training, coaching and quality assurance:

  • Alignment of service management processes with ISO/IEC 20000 and preparation of a subsidiary company for the certification audit.

  • Compilation of existing security policies into a business continuity plan complying with worldwide company standards and BS 25999.

The size of the engineering office Stejskal is at the other end of the scale. In the field of building equipment and appliances, consulting, planning, tender offers, and project coordination are the main services. When acting as a sworn court expert, typical tasks are to inspect safety measures, protect means of evidence, and to furnish opinions.

The nature of this work requires close documentation of a vast number of rather fragmented units of work. Over long periods of time, many simultaneous projects remain active. – We analyzed a purpose-made database that was already in place. During two coaching sessions, we specified the requirements to close a tedious information gap, cleaned up the data model and added some interesting reports to the system.

Once upon a time, three one-man shows met and decided they wanted to bid for larger projects than each of them could implement. What happened next? Within two years, the newly found company had 13 employees and became market leader in Austria for trainings in ITIL, COBIT and related methods. As support teams for some of the leading vendors, process consultants and IT experts convert the concepts of such standards into customer specific bits and bytes of service management tool suites.

The experience gathered as the founder, partner and general manager 2005-2008 as well as consultant and trainer with dozens of customers encouraged the concept of Prozess Delta. During a sabbatical dedicated to an MBA in Mergers & Acquisitions, the critical success factors of such an enterprise could be reflected in depth: team spirit of the managers, goal setting, and methodic approach to reach the goals. Such concepts are tested in each project and in ongoing operations, but even more so in talks to external partners and investors.
